What we cover

Capitol Journal reports on Congress, the White House and federal agencies, the courts, state governments and elections. Our aim is a daily record of public decisions: what was decided, who decided it, what the record shows and what comes next.

How we work

  • Every story carries a byline and a publication date, and updates are marked with their date and time.
  • Every factual claim is linked to the record it comes from, preferably a primary source: a roll-call vote, a court filing, a statute, an official statement or an election authority’s own website.
  • If we cannot confirm something, we say so or we leave it out.
  • News reporting and opinion are kept separate. Opinion pieces are labeled and signed.
  • We do not project winners or call races. On election night we report results only as election authorities publish them.

Some of our articles are drafted with the help of AI tools. When that is the case, the article says so at the end. The facts in those articles are checked against the sources listed with them before publication, and Atlas Media Network remains responsible for them.
